Got a Ticket!

Heard my dogs barking and Seen a piece of paper on my D21 Hardbody and it was a citation for parking facing traffic.....My truck was in front of my house and my registration is the same as the house it's parked in front of and the cop doesn't even have the decency to even come knock on my door and give me a warning! I didn't know it was against the law...I do all the time and I've seen it done quite alot throughout my neighborhood! I'm pissed and I really feel like not even going to court for this but I will have alot to say to the Judge when I get there!

Sounds like it can easily be pardoned. Officer probably had nothing better to do

I've never heard of such a law. I can see it making sense if you were parking on a one way street, but not in front of your house.

Most cities have laws regarding this, where any public street upon which you may legally park, you are required to park in the direction of traffic on the side of the road you park on. Even in neighborhoods (although in a neighborhood...really?)

They can even ticket you if your vehicle blocks a sidewalk while sitting in your driveway, or you are parked in front of a driveway in some jurisdictions, though these are rarely enforced.

Had nothing better to do but I expect you'll have a hard time with the judge assuming there is indeed a law regarding direction of parked vehicles on public roads.

Good luck sir, hopefully the officer shows up and the judge sees it from a reasonable standpoint, perhaps the officer gets a lecture about it LOL

If you decide to go to court, keep on delaying your trial date - I have been told that this decreases the chance your officer will show up to the trial. Of course take it with a grain of salt, but doesn't hurt to try

I got a ticket for that same thing, parking in front of my own house. I didn't get mine from an officer though, it was some general parking/code enforcement wuss.

The thing that sucks is my house is on the left side of the street, so to park the correct way I'd have to go down a few houses to a neighbors house and turn around, which is a hassle, so I still just park the same way I always have.

Cali has such a law too. Never see it nor heard anyone getting a ticket. I was told of it verbally.

Dude, your broke the law and got a ticket, and now you are whinning about it?

Park on the wrong side of the street, you get a ticket, doh!

I got a ticket last week for expired plates, right in front of my house. I bought the new sticker, just forgot to put it on.

Paid the flipping $30.00 ticket in person and thanked them for doing their job.

Suck it up and accept responsibility for your actions, jeez!

No, wait, yeah - go to court and let the judge have it, that is brilliant, you must be a kid!

Ignorance of the law is no excuse, not sure why I find this so funny, other than you sound like me -

Most places have these laws. In some places if you park your car on the wrong side of the street and someone hits your car, it is considered your fault.

At least it wasn't a moving violation and your insurance will not suffer. You might want to challenge it and at least try to get it reduced. No harm in trying.

Knowing you, you probably pissed off the cop elsewhere and he followed you home and gave you a ticket for the only thing he could find wrong

I believe it's stated in the DMV handbook.

In fact, I vaguely remember it being one of my questions on the written test!

And just a FYI, your right wheels can be no more than 18" from the face of curb or you could get a ticket (This is why you got the ticket).
