Could a bad CAT keep car from starting?

Car smell of rotten eggs on the way home from the JY, the next morning it wud not start. I have a new CAT, but I have not had time to install it yet.

I only hear a click under dash and humming from the fuel pump when I turn the key, all lights on dash panel work. Performed the bushing test, starter is new, battery is new and at 13 volts, terminals are clean as a whistle, power cable running to starter is factory. I upgraded the grounds to thicker cable because they were bad. Would this put my power supply out of balance?

Does it crank over at all? If it does crank but won't start I'd say fuel but you claim good/new pump. check for spark, vacuum/air and if fuel rail is getting fuel.

No crank, just a click from under dash and a humming which lets me know the fuel pump is working. I turn the key and get nothing but dash lights.

Check engine light on dash comes on when I turn key. Is this my problem? What is it telling me? Could a bad o2 sensor keep the car from cranking and starting?

Is it a dead battery clicking? I know you said battery is new and you checked voltage but your description sounds like dead battery or high resistance in path. I would check fuses, wires, cables and swapping in known good battery from another car or jumping. This is what I'm thinking from your description...I never assume something is good because it's new.

You were correct, bad battery (Yellow Top). The heat probably killed it. It fired right up with a new one. I will change that CAT converter out this weekend. Can I reuse the factory metal gaskets? I believe they are better.

You could re-use the old gaskets but take the risk of having an exhaust leak. Its better to just replace the gasket and be done.
