Lsd
SO now I have found a source for a solid naturally asp. motor that will make big power as is and will respond well to turbocharging, but now the trannny is the big question. So I'll put this out there for you all to respond to. I can do two things....Rebuild VG 5-spd with Quaife LSD...OR..retrofit a VE 5-spd trans that has the viscous LSD already there. Does anyone know if the VE trans will bolt up? I can't go wrong with the VG Quaife route, but I could do the VE route for much less dough. So Waddaya say??

Is there a Quafe even offered for the VG30E cars? I thought it was only available for the VQ's.
Good luck finding a VE trans, I've not been able to locate one for the past 2 years.

This is not promising..I know I can get a VG trans NEW ofr almost 2 grand. ALot of dough, but If I'm going to do this right, it may be the only alternative. I guess i could probably get a VE trans w. lsd in it for about the same $$, but will it bolt up? I am in the process of contacting quaife about lsd for vg. Could I take the diff from a ve trand and fit it to a vg trans? These are the thiNgs I neEd to work on, Anyone else have some input?

after I had my tranny rebuilt, they'd still grind the first couple months after the rebuild.. now they dont' much at all. I'll get a tiny bit, but nothing near like I was three months ago.

how much did it run you to have new synchros put in? in april i'm gonna do a clutch, and while the tranny is out i'm gonna do the flywheel, if synchros aren't TOO expensive, (since i'm spending a grand already) i might as well do that too. . .

I think
that it will be pretty hard to do the Synchros, as that entails taking apart the tranny itself. But if you are that good, well more power to ya!
I just Had my tranny rebuilt a month ago, and have finally been driving it the last couple weeks, and it seems much harder to shift now, though I still havent put in the Redline MT-90 I was using before the rebuild. also I hear the tranny whirring around now when the clutch is out, and it seems to be worse that it should be... but im not sure so Im gonna take it in to let a pro hear it I guess.

Do yourself a favor and use the MTL. You hear the trans whirring when the clutch is disengaged? Are you sure you aren't hearing the engine..silly question I know, but when the clutch is out, the trans is totally separated from the engine, so this is an unlikely scenario. If this was the case, then the clutch could not be totally disengaging and you would have trouble getting into gear smoothly.
I rebuilt my trans, guts included (bearings, synchros etc) I saved a ton of money, but it took some time and was pretty challenging. Better to leave this to a pro..there's a reason it costs that much.

so you are recommending the MTL over the MT-90?
also, when I say clutch out, I mean my foot is off the pedal, meaning the engine and tranny are connected at that time. Thats how I know its the tranny. but it doesnt seem too bad... I dunno... ill need to get more opinions.
