Every once in a while I'll drive with the O/D off if I'm not going to go over 50mph. Is this detrimental to the transmission? What about using 2nd gear to go up steep hills? What about manually shifting an automatic transmission? Any suggestions on getting the best acceleration/performance out of an automatic? thanks

Driving with O/D off on the hiway will waste gas but
little else. 2nd gear up hills, if it will pull third
do it other wise you are generating exesive heat.
manualy shiftng an auto, wouldn't recomend it.

Your auto tranny has alot better shifting points then you could do, so i would recommend letting it shift to what it was programmed for.
Driving with O/D off won't hurt anything, although you will waste gas.
And why would you need to go up a hill in Second?
These cars have enough power to do just fine, and if you ARE trying to go up a hill that it can't get up, well then there's your answer for you.
Don't take it up it !

Hey Sith

Hey, thanks a lot. I don't know much about cars so could you explain how your new battery terminals are giving you 20+HP. How much did that cost you and did you do it yourself. You are the only person I've seen in the forums with new battery terminals. Thanks again.

Cincyt BEWARE......

There are lots of jokers here on the board. He is just messing around. Its like saying "I gained 10hp by putting a Vtec on my car". Just hang around here and you will pick up on everything.

Thanks for the info, because I was really lost for awhile. I'll watch out for those jokers.

Yeah it's actually "riceboy" terminology. To learn more go to http://www.briansriceboypage.com or http://www.beaterz.com Basically a riceboy is a person that focuses more on looks than performance. For example, you know all those integras that you see everywhere that have TypeR on them? In actuality, there are only 500 Integra TypeR's made per year and they only come in two colors: Yellow or Black. The "riceboys" put TypeR stickers on their car to make them THINK that their ar has the 180 4-banger engine from the TypeR, but instead their "regular" integra has the 1.8 liter 120hp riceburner (4 cylinder). Another example is people with hon"duhs" that have 1 inch exhaust and slap a 6" tip on it to make them think it has tons of power. So when "SITH" said that the battery terminals added 20+ hp, he's using riceboy technology. Try it out sometime...slap a Nitrous Oxide sticker on the back of your car and see the responses that you get from people...you would be suprised....it's really pathetic!
