Engine Management...
What are you guys using now days? I remember waiting for ZEMulator, and Nistune, but what are you guys doing now? Back in the day I would have just done a little bit of AFR logging and sent out to JWT. But what is available now? PowerFC maybe? Emanage?
Goals
- Delete MAF
- Will need VTC control capabilities.
Let me know your oppinions. Especially the turbo guys.
Please dont say FMU lol

There aren't any new/different options. Don't recall what happened with ZEMulator but IIRC Aaron was the one pushing/working with that and he just ended up doing a VQ35 swap.
I believe Maxpwr is running Nistune in his VG. Brad was just running a FMU. He totaled his 3rd gen but swapped his VE into a Z32 (pretty badass btw) and last I saw him about a year ago I beleive he was still just running an FMU.
Can't remember was 4signs is running
*edit* 4signs was/is using AEM EMS

You buy it from Nistune/Australia and they ship it to you.
Last I checked, including the "personal license", special consult cord you need, shipping, etc you're looking at about $600 total.

If you are able to modify the ECU yourself to accept the Nistune daughter board then you can just have them ship to you. If you need/want them to do the work you are going to have to ship your ECU to Australia and wait for shipment back.
Nistune is an amazing tool and I highly recommend it for any turbo Nissan that can take advantage of it. However I doubt you could use it to get rid of the MAF, especially without a lot of tuning. Usually going to a MAP type system requires a stand alone.

I will probably end up going NIStune, the more I research on it, the more I like it. And it seems to only be around $600ish, it reminds me a lot of Neptune that we run our turbo honda on and looks to be affordable.
But the wait from Australia is going to kill me..... =(
I love haltech setups, but 3kish just on the EMS is something that might have to wait til later.

Autovaughn Performance in Tennessee is a US distributor so buying direct from Matt in Australia isn't necessary. Type 1 boards don't need a consult cable, a USB cable is all that's needed.

Talked to autovaughn performance today. About $610 shipped and installed which is a good price for what it does.
I also finished the design for the turbo manifolds and collector as well as the reverse intake manifold to move the throttle body to the other side.
Although this build will have a few things probably never seen on the Maximas ill try to show how/why it's done for all the other users. Also please take note that I am completely aware I'm strapping 10-15psi on an engine 20 years old that should be rebuilt. I'm using it to get the setup fitted correctly and I'll boost til it pops and then rebuild another engine I have here.

can he actually remove the MAF on nistune?
i know nistune allows you to upgrade the MAF but to swap it out for a MAP or something else?
nistune is nice...for a rookie tuner i'm not "thrilled" about it...but it does what it needs to do.

After going through the software I found this out. I will still be using Nistune, and just bite the bullet and go with a MAF. As much as I dislike the MAF since this is going to be somewhat a budget build, it doesnt make sense to build a MS or Halltech for it.
