Exhaust Questions

With respect to mufflers, rather than entire cat-back systems (which are too expensive for me at the moment), are there any in particular that stand out as being a decent performance mod for our cars? For example, Jegs.com has Dynomax mufflers that are super-affordable for me, but I'm not sure if it'll be a decent upgrade from stock. I'm also interested in getting better sound out of the engine. Obviously nothing ricey, but a nice burble at idle and a some throaty-ness at WOT is what I'm hoping for. Nothing extreme, but I drove my friends V6 Mustang last night with an exhaust system and that deep sound when the engine revs is intoxicating.

Basically, I would like to know if anyone has had experience with aftermarket mufflers such as Dynomax or Borla that could describe what type of horsepower and sound benefits they give.

Also, what are the dimensions for the piping for the muffler on a VE Max?

Re: Exhaust Questions

my Dynomax sounds great when accelerating..I've had it for a year and a half now and the sound is just like a V8. its scares most of the little Honda boys around my way cause it doesn't have that annoying "honda buzz", but actually sounds like the car is REALLY beefed up! and for only $60-70 you can't beat the price!! heres a pic-->

yeah, thers a low level drone, not too annoying, lets just say if the radio is at a moderate level you can quickly forget about it! but my y-pipe is going on next week, so I'm waiting to see if there will be any change!

Hey, i heard a lot of great things about the dynomax muffler, but i didn't know how they looked. So i was wondering if that tip in your picture came was part of the muffler, or was it a tip you added on.

I had a Borla on my car, great sound but it did drone a bit. Most mufflers don't come with tips since mounting positions varies from car to car.

I know the VG has 2", I'm pretty sure the VE does too.
