new here.

Hello, I'm Don in Gardner KS with a 1992 se 5 speed. Just bought it last week. Been lurking around for a bit, and wanted to show what I have, and maybe someone with wheel knowledge could tell me what kind of wheels these are. Besides horrible. They are 17's. As far as the car is concerned, I have my work cut out for me. Going to have to get new suspension parts and a high pressure p/s hose. Motor mounts all shot, and when the previous owner had hubs put on, he did not get abs rings on them. As it is, it's pretty rough. A survivor from Race Wars with the battle scars to show it. i.e. Painted calipers, painted muffler, purple tint, rat nest wiring, knocked pretty hard in the rear, rust, and the such. Anyway, I call it BTF mode right now, and I hope with patience and the love of Nissans, hopefully I can get it into decent shape again. Here's some pics for your shock and awe. I want to make it reliable again, and teach my kids how to drive a stick shift, with it.
This is also a call out, if you have spare parts and are looking to get rid of them, please pm me, and maybe we can figure out something so my beast can run for another 200,000 miles. (at 207,000 right now). You have a great site, and will be on more as work progresses.
I have checked out the newbie Q's thread, and poked around. Please give me the benefit of the doubt if I post a redundant question. Sometimes I cannot brain too well. Thanks again!

Welcome!

Those wheels almost look like knockoff American Racing Torque Thrusts or Kragers or something.

Your car has the 89-91 SE grille on it. The 92-94 grille (which is correct for your car) looks much better IMO

Thanks, somebody in it's past decided to screw a Nissan emblem on the grille. then spray painted it white. Anyway, yeah. It is what it is, but maybe I can glean some pleasure out of it before it sees the crusher.

besides the grill, your passenger mirror is 89/90 style while your drivers side is 91-94...had you noticed?

It looks like the grill is from an 89-91 and those wheels are some crap that I have seen on newer front wheel drive GM cars. I know there is a newish Impala in my neighborhood with the same ones. The bolt pattern is different, but those are usually in the showroom at TireRack or Tire Factory.

I would ditch the wheels and get some newer Maxima wheels.

Despite all the flaws, you have a VE 5 speed and those are getting tougher to find.

Thank you! I hadn't noticed the different mirrors, but somehow I'm not surprised. And I saw on CL that there is someone parting out a 93 with a bad trans, I think. It's in Independence. If you don't mind letting me know what you find at the jy, I'd appreciate it, man!
