You say that as if that's a common problem on Jap cars when in fact it's the opposite

It all depends on where the car is from. my 1985 200sx doesn't have corroded wires.

The 3rdgen Max is fairly easy to sort out and 20+ years on a Digi/HUD/Sonar Max with functioning cruise, A/C, alarm, key pads, ect.... I would have to agree that on all depends on environment/previous owner.

I am just venting I guess. Because this maxima is a mess in the wiring harness. I fix one then goto the next and so on. I know the PO was an idiot of the car repair world. Take one repair that I loved, The skin of the muffler had hose clamps holding it together. seriously?! for the price of the clamps he used he could of bought a universal muffler and be done with it. UGH?!...I am just a firm believer of repairing it right or take it to someone who will...

sadly you're in the minority. Otherwise there wouldn't be people who wear their brake rotors down to the vent slots (although that is an extreme example)

You can't really include your dash in there. I'm pretty sure I fixed one for you, but I didn't recognize the name when I sent the spring funds, so maybe I have you confused with someone else. The dashes usually die around the same time that VE's blow up judging from the odometer readings on. ~180k miles. I don't remember what yours had, but still upwards of 200k isn't bad.

OP: If the previous owner messed up the wiring and didn't maintain any consistency with the factory harnesses then I can understand why you would be ranting. But you can't fault the factory system because the previous owner turned it into a freak show.

Oh no I have seen that before ALOT. I used to be an assistant manager at the local oreillys here and customers came in all the time with their rotors which have been worn down to the vanes or even broke in half, which I ended up selling them a caliper, caliper bracket, etc.....

people seem to assume that because engines are getting to the point where they "seemingly last forever" that every single part on the accompanying car should too. Saw a woman arguing with a shop tech who was "refusing to turn down her rotors for her" because he measured them with an indicator and they were already below-spec (or would be after the turning was finished) and she was so upset and offended by that.

What the hell are you talking about??? You fixed my dash?? Nobody touches my bytch but me and you mos def got me confused wit somebody else!! My model has more wiring than the other models and the digi dashes last the life of the car usually...it's the fuel pump sending unit for the digi fuel gauge that "might" go bad.

I'm with you James.....Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Mazda, etc...electronics and wiring will out do any British car or Chevy. I had several Chevy Vans /trucks(Astro, C10, 1500, 2500, 3500) and they seem to have a corroding wiring harness problem right above the battery! So please don't tell me you have a 3rd gen with wiring issues....You may have connector problems like on the injectors but there's a fix for that....

Do you have any idea who you're talking to? I've been repairing these for orgers, Youtubers, and locals since 2006, and that's the least of it. Anyway I was right, I was mistaking you for Hatmanfro because you have identical cars. So calm down, it isn't that big of a deal. I already said that I was possibly mixing you up with another member. There's absolutely nothing that you are qualified to be explaining to me on this topic. In fact, when your dash dies out and you realize that you were completely wrong, I'm the one who you'll be sending it to for repair.

And where are my springs? It's been 20 days since you told me you will be shipping them "ASAP" and I'm still empty handed. For reference, I bought a box of oil filters from a seller in New Jersey on Wednesday, and they arrived today..

You realize you only have that 'job' because I quit doing it 10 yrs ago, right?

Japanese 2nd GEN RX-7's were at the top of the list for electrical gremlins. I've not known NISSAN to have any electrical issues that were major other than window regulators.

Audis are far worse for electrical problems. Half the crap on my A4 doesn't work.. and all the ones I test-drove (4-5 before the one I got) were all just as bad.

It is? I could have sworn that I started doing it because I spent a load of time diagnosing why the one I used for my conversion didn't work, even when the cathodes for both displays were receiving power It's not my job, I haven't even had someone follow through for about a year, I just take them when they come along.

If you do know of ALL the faults, then good job. I don't know why you would quit though. Flakes maybe? I've had my share of time wasters.

It's electronics repair, countless people in the world are qualified to do it if it mattered enough to them. In fact at the time I was testing and diagnosing my own, there was an ebay seller offering replacements for faulty trade ins for $170 or something ridiculous.

Hectics repaired 2 digital dashes for me.

And I also got another digital dash when I got some parts from a guy in Norway,

He repaired that one too. So I have 3 dashes fixed by him lol

well been away for a bit working on my other cars...but yeah the maxima is in my hands now the wife gave it up for her integra again. so I am still repairing the wiring issues. found the injector connectors to be worn out and full of corrosion so thats my next step along with fixing the fuel rail rubbers are leaking a bit and I am gonna go up to the parts store and just take one vacuum line off one at a time and replace. noticed the hoses are very brittle and some are not even there.....ugh....but like my integras I will not give up on them....
