I am not affiliated with any of these vendors; just helping with research...
If you are considering just springs, also consider a complete suspension re-build if not already.

1) wtf is your text white for? I can't read it unless it's highlighted (i don't use the "dark" theme)
2) the tokicos on that site are only listed as being available for the rear - nothing for the front

car will be detrimental to your spinal health with a 2 inch drop. There isn't enough room for the suspension to move when the car is that low. Some cars have a ton of travel left after lowering the car.... but a 3rd gen would be almost on the bump stops.

and KYB's aren't really good enough for drop springs. Not stiff enough or durable enough to survive the higher spring rate and increased likelihood of bottoming out the strut valving.

Most of the "good stuff" for these cars was made when they were less than 10 years old, when they still had enough value in them for the average owner to be better off than "dirt poor". Fast foward 10 years... and there aren't enough owners willing to put down the $$ for nice parts, so the companies can't keep them in production b/c they aren't worth the money required to continue producing them in such small numbers. Welcome to the world of $1,500 cars.

Good point,

I believe we could ask the companies who used to make certain parts for either the rights to the designs (if someone were to have a business for Maxima owners) or... we might inquire to have companies who made the parts to re-process a small quantity of products if we could gather a group buy.
- having been around the boards since 2000; nothing is impossible for a Maxima owner.

Doc,

nothing is impossible for the 4th/5th gen owner. Most things are impossible for the 3rd gen owner. The companies often times scrap the tooling/designs because they know that demand will NEVER re-increase so it's not worth it for them to try and fit it into their production schedules at their factories. It's like asking Wendy's to bring back Pitas from the 90s for the 4-5 people that still want them.

i'm talking about the struts that you need to go with the springs. Springs might still be out there, but on KYBs or stock struts.... you'll be in trouble. Unless you just enjoy replacing struts a couple times a year. Lowering springs with KYB's will probably feel about like stock springs with blown struts....

Dam you guys are making me not wanna get new shocks for my car, I've been wanting to lower it an inch but not on the stocks, they are actually still incredibly smooth on rough roads even at 176k assuming they're the stock struts to begin with

unfortunately there just aren't any good new struts to buy.... we have a good car with a horrible aftermarket these days. It's not much better for the Z31... I can get shocks fine, but there's no good springs left (ST had the best, but they discontinued them)

This may be a question for Matt93SE,

Is a TOKICO strut rebuild-able... similar to a motorcycle front strut in theory?
- if so, a used set of TOKICOs would be a good grab.

If not, then we' back to customization.

Notice it's for the A31 chassis, which would be the Cefiro. For some reason sellers made the mistake along the way that that would fit the J30 Maxima and then seller after seller kept using bad data and proliferating that info.

Bottom line there is no way in the world those are made for, or will even fit the 3rd gen Maxima.

You''re right except the listing is for 89-94 but the a31 was made between 88-94... still worth askin imo I searched 1991 maxima coilover :S

i was sure that all 3g maximas were fwd all over the world, just that euro had bumper fogs and other tiny different bits

the A31 was never a "Maxima". The 4th gen Maxima is the J30 and actually i s the same as the A32 Cefiro (both FWD) so most coilover companies assume that since A32/33/34 were Maximas, that the A31 was too, but it was not.

Basically, the A31 and A32 are as different as the 1st and 2nd gen Maxima -- one is L6 RWD, the other is V6 FWD.

Just get a Z31 or M30 or (infiniti) J30, and do a RB swap. It's as close as you'll get.

O.T.

I have toyed with the idea of importing an 89'-94' CEFIRO from the Phillipines - $4-$7K for the car and $3K to ship it over and title it under grey market. However, this car is not attractive to me. I like the concept, but don't like the Ma' & Pa' re-hashed 240SX interior with 2 extra doors. I'd just rather have a 240SX.

Cool ride though.

Emailed them, and funny thing... they sent back to the Forum here:

"Hello,

The model that you are asking about requires custom work for a full air ride system.
Here is the link to a forum that dicusses some air ride options.

what about if... like the 3rd gen suspension is exactly like another car's suspension from that time? (I'm not stoned) For instance, a Stanza or Sentra's, but are direct fit with little or no modification? Same spring rates and everything? Yes I'm new, but I am sure I am not the first person that had thought this. I need suspension components so badly. I have toyed with the thought of filling my springs with rubber in the rear so I can avoid the bumpsteer when I drive on uneven surfaces. It's so bad. I fear for my life, and loss of capability to safely maneuver the car in traffic without posing a danger to other motorists. I wont put my children in this car. Car should make you feel like this.

Anything can be fabricated to replace the current suspension. It's fun to toy around with this idea.

If you want to replace stock for stock(new) then there are only a few vendors left out there who provide OE type replacements.
