just ordered my y pipe

I'm debating whether I should do it myself or take it to a shop. Is this something I can do without any crazy tools or is it strictly for the experts?

It is fairly easy to do yourself. The bolts may be very tight though. I recommend soaking them with penetrating oil overnight before attempting.

When u get the pipe you'll see that it's self explanatory...the flange bolts will more than likely be frozen. Have some PB blaster at hand and a blow torch to heat up the bolts for removal. You can do this yourself brother...just need some hand tools, ramps or jack stands, PB blaster and maybe a 14 ounce propane bottle torch.

DIY for sure. When I did mine it took me maybe an hour and a half (fighting frozen bolts by hand). super easy when you are actually swapping it though.

DIY and spend the money you save on more parts! When you get the bolts out its not a bad idea to replace them and cover the new ones in anti seize to prevent them from seizing up again. Good luck.

When i did mine, nyc weather made the part where it connects to the main cat impossible to take off. So i cut it off, but i also had a new cat to install at the same time, so it wasnt an issue. good luck, remember use good jack stands!

I did mine on ramps, in the snow. Talk about frozen bolts....
Took about an hour. The car had 110k miles at that point.

Got it in!! I noticed it didn't come with any gaskets, I'm assuming I have to buy them myself?

I'm confused on what I need to buy to install, it came with these metal rings and a bracket and what appears to be a gasket for the part that attaches to the cat. Anyone have a write up for installing this y pipe?

If I'm on the same page, the metal rings are the gaskets. Unbolt the old pipe, remove the old gaskets and replace with new and pop her on!
