I've replaced a lot of broken clusters on nissans. Seems to be a common problem. Strange thing about mine is the fact that my odometer and cruise work flawlessly, only the speedo jumps around...

Somebody said there was a thread on here with instructions on how to solder it and repair it. I plan on looking that up and trying it soon.

I'd you do find that thread, post it up. I haven't been able to find it since I saw that thread, ages ago.

mine was like that. I test drove the car, speedo worked. I bought the car and speedo was broken. Mind you it was my first car EVER and i had like, barely any practice driving.... so gauging my speed was not something I had learned how to do yet.

I just replaced the gauge only and kept the remainder of my cluster as it was. That way the milage stayed correct.

Lol many years ago I had another s14 I bought to fix and flip, I tried to give it white gauges and keep the mileage by removing the needles and covers and swapping them around. Needless to say it didn't work... Ended up having to buy a 3rd cluster. Bonehead moment number 472,356.

I'm a pretty good judge at being my personal speedometer, but it would be pretty amazing to look down and know exactly the speed you are doing, instead of looking at the center line marks go by

well, this was 2 weeks after I got my license when I was 18. My parents BARELY ever let me practice driving (maybe 3 hours total the entire time I had my permit). I could probably get away without a speedometer now, but not back then.
