Is there a clip?

I replace a cv axle on the passenger side of my 92 ve30de and its been about 3 weeks now and I notice a vibration from the axle. Do passenger side axle have a c clip ? Mine didn't come with it and I figure that the clip is meant for it to hold the axle from popping out of place but the three screw hold it in place so I figure it didn't need a clip. And I feel the vibration in full throttle. Thanks

No clip on the RH side. All the axle does is rotate, I don't know see how it could "vibrate". You talking about while you're driving it?

Vibration under throttle with an aftermarket axle is usually due to it being out of balance. I've consistently had trouble over the years with aftermarket axles on my VE's giving me vibration in gear at throttle.

The only way I see this happening is with a warped axle, or improper installation. Did you grease the splines before installing them as the manual specifies? I can see friction causing allowing vibrations to transmit, although I'm not sure the intensity would be very noticeable.

I installed some Autozone axles back in 05 or 06 and they've been fine. Course this is on a VG, maybe the problem is specific to the LSD trans.

It's weird, it's only ever happened to me on the VE's. My Hondas and my mom's Hyundai I literally buy the cheapest crap axles on Rock Auto and have never had a problem. But probably 50% of the time I've used aftermarket axles in the VE's I've always gotten drivetrain vibration in gear under acceleration.

Why should you have to drain the gearbox? The oil level is supposed to be right under the axle seal. Meaning assuming your car is level no oil should leak out even with no axle in it.

Then you had it overfilled.

You could jack up the passenger side higher than the driver side. Then unless you have it REALLY overfilled then there's no way it can spill out.

I finally figure it out why when I go full throttle I feel a vibration by the axle. It due to the fact that I didn't install the metal crush ring gasket on the warspeed y pipe. So at full throttle there so much air pressure that it gets out thru the gaps where it causes the vibration ( exhaust leak sound n feel ).

The spec fill level is the bottom of the fill plug... so if the fill plug is higher on the case than the bottom of the axle hole (which I think it is) then the oil level is too. Maybe not by much, but by enough to cause a spill. Otherwise the axle seal wouldn't have much of a job to do would it? Besides keeping dirt out.

Actually this is the inside of a RS5F50V tranny's case (the tall part). The plug is way back in there and the picture is taken at an updward angle so it's *slightly* higher up than it looks in the pic.

That is, if you rocked the thing towards you so it was at a straight angle, the axle seal (closer to the camera) would move more relative to your eye than the plug threads (close to floor).

So it looks like the bottom of the plug is about midway up the axle hole.

You know what you're right, I knew that. Don't know what I was thinking earlier.

but yea if you can get the car leaned over to the driver side you *might* be able to get the axle out with no spillage.
