××××Shocks/Struts××××

My GXE oversteers and makes a cloppity clop sound while traversing potholes. I believe its time for suspension replacement. I dont know the first thing about the max'S suspension. Shocks up front struts in rear??? Anyways, im sure that I can find a how to on youtube. So if anyone has suggestions on a good set of shocks/struts, advance has monroe and kyb, please let me know. Your wisdom is invaluable
Kind regards
Chris

hate to do this but have you search the 3rd gen section for this information?

the only choices available are monroe and kyb.
KYB i believe most prefer over the monroe.

3rd gens have struts all around, Koni or Tokico are the first choice but are discontinued. most likely only gonna find used ones, or one in a million new ones sitting dusty on a shelf somewhere

KYB GR2 are about the only good common choice left

KYB GR2 are no longer made. They are now called KYB exel G.

struts on both ends. MacPherson design with a separate spindle in the front, Chapman design with an integrated spindle in the rear.

also "cloppity clop" could also be something else such as worn-out strut mounts, control arm bushings, or ball joints. Pretty much anything that can add slop into the movement of the wheels relative to the body.

I'm about to buy some gyb but I'm wondering if it can handle the intrax springs.

Supposedly the excel-G is the exact same strut, just under a different name and black instead of silver. Regardless, people say they're not as stiff as the GR-2's and that they are made in the US instead of Japan. I have a hard time believing that it's just a name and color change. I decided to go ahead and ****** up a pair of the old silver GR-2's while they are available, for one because I prefer the color and name, but mostly because I don't believe KYB's claim that the excel G is the exact same. Ended up getting the front set for $90 shipped as well, so that didn't hurt either.

Can you post a pic of you drop? I'm thinking about buying b&g springs.

3-bar grille = 89-91 = VG for both GXE and SE. Also note he has an intercooler

have you also had a set of Tokicos at some point? If so, how do they compare to the Excel G?
