headlight mods

hi all. i'm new here. i am seeking to find ways to get better and brighter driving lights. is the e36 w/o hids really that much more of an improvement over the maxima stocks? any reply to this would be helpful. thanks.

Yes, it is! I'd also heard this too without knowing exactly why until I read the specs on the type of headlight bulbs they use and we use:

(since I can't find regular bulb specs on short notice I'll use Sylvania Cool Blue specs)

9004: Maxima bulbs. Give out 700 lumens lowbeam, 1200 lumens highbeam

9006: BMW E36 lowbeam bulb. Gives out 1000 lumens.

9005: BMW E36 highbeam bulb. Gives out 1700 lumens.

So even without doing anything but essentially using a different bulb, you are getting better lighting. Any HID conversion on the BMW lights or our stock headlights will be a BIG improvement over any of this of course.

Well, this thread contained some the most idiotic remarks I've seen in about 3 months. I've deleted most of them. Keep it clean or suffer the axe!

I thought that the 9 thousand series of bulbs all contained both the low and high beam filament in them. Is it just the 9004, do the BMW lights just use one of the respective filaments in each light?

If had time, money, skill, or any of the two. I'd follow up my skyline tails with these
headlights

only the 9004 bulb has high and low beam in one bulb. the 9004 is one of the worst designs around ;p
