if i wanted to get a paint job, should i get it professionally done or would a private place do it good? i dont want a regular coat, i want it metallic or whatever you call the siny stuff. how much does a good job range from.

well painting a car is a odd thing... the prices can range from 2k to $200 basicly you get what you pay for.. for a super nice job like the show cars your looking at 1000, but for a every day color and a good job id say 400-750..

i would just get the paint refinished (compounded) its about 100 bucks and it makes the old paint look 100% better

about one thing you do get what you pay for. Just to let you know the paint job on my GXE was $2500 and I knew the guy and my car sat in the shop all summer. anything under $1500 I would just advise you to not be dissapointed when you get your car back. My car was painted Lexus Diamond Pearl and it had the metalic pearl that you are talking about. My SE got painted the stock red color, untill I get the kit on next month then I may get a custom red color. Compounding the car may not help that much if the paint is dead and has lost its luster, I detail cars and sometime people think that It will make the car look new but once it starts to fade you can only give it an even finish, I mean when I hit my GXE and had the hood painted white and nothing else you could see how much the stock white had faded, thats one of the reasons I had the whole car painted, so I dont know if buffing the cars gonna help. but just let me stress one more time
