Anyone ever replaced a Speedo Sensor before?

I was wondering how hard it was to do and where to get one for a decent price. I called local wrecking yards and they are not available from them. Bet price I have found so far is $75.00 new.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Todd

welcome.. try the search function on "speed sensor"
It's a common problem on maximas. 10 minute job to replace, about $60.

Sounds like a reasonable price, but try for $60.00 like Matt said, call up Courtesy Nissan www.courtesynissan.com and ask them for the price. Tell them that your a maxima.org member and they should give you a 25% discount, if you can wait it is ten times better to order it from them. On the VG auto it is located at the back and has one bolt holding it in, you just take the bolt out wiggle it around a little, and it should pull right out.

Before you buy a new sensor, try this first, if you haven't already done so.
1. Pull out the top part of the sensor from the metal housing (you don't have to remove any bolt).
2. Turn it over and look inside, you should see multiple metal pieces on
the inside wall. If they are covered with black stuffs, get some fine sand paper (360 grit or greater) and gently clean it.
3. Put it back and test drive the car and see if your speedo is working now.

My speedometer was dead for over a year, I did the above steps and it worked. Good Luck!!!
