Ve30de swap question
Ve30de swap question
Ok, so here is another swap question, but this one is a bit different. I know that Aaron from NWP Performance swapped his VG Engine for an 02' VQ35. I believe he used a tranny from his VG with a 96' VQ30 bell housing. So I'm wondering if I can use the VE Engine, with a VQ35 6 speed tranny, with the 96 VQ30 Bell housing? I like the VE. It's amazing how many Nissan "guru's" I run into in the street that think my VE is the VQ! A lot of them never heard of the VE. I think I want to keep it to be different, especially at the deal I'm getting for a used one. So can that swap be done? Any true Maxima guys out there that can answer this question logically?
Aaron had a VE, and I'm nearly certain he's using his VE auto transmission still. I believe he's using a 4th gen VQ auto bellhousing, like you stated. Not sure if it would work to run a 6 speed tranny on the VE block. Why would you want to do that anyway? Seems like an expensive thing to do just for an extra gear
Actually, Aaron has a VG, not the VE. I want the smooth shift components and extra gear of a newer model 6 spd tranny. I think the VE with that tranny would be a pretty nice combo once I turbo it. So why would that be such a bad idea if I can get the tranny for cheap? What would be the downside?
Actually, it had a VE. His username would have been a giveaway.

But Aaron was able to swap the bell housings because the transmissions used between the two engines are in the same series (RE4F04x). AFAIK, there are no 6 speeds that were made to fit the VG/VE bell housing mounting points, so your best bet would be to make one of your own.
Plus you gotta worry about the shifter components, trans mounts, axles and hubs.
