Another engine swap?

Now because the 3.5 motor comes with a 6 speed then you would have to mate it with a 6 speed or could you use our 5 speed tanny?

Your 5-speed will not work with the 3.5L VQ 6-speed.

Why not consider a 2002 Altima 3.5L VQ engine with the 5-speed? Then get a Supercharger for it when it comes out.. muhahhahaaha

he thinks you're talking about buying the whole car, not just the engine and tranny.

besides, the transplant will be nearly impossible. the engine and tranny mounts are in positions that there are no strong frame supports on our cars. it wouldn't stay in place.

If you had the machinery, time, some money, and a lot of welding experience then you could produce custom motor mounting brackets.

Two things, 1) Anything is possible if you have money and time, neither of which I have. 2) Are there any other alternatives to Maxima engines? Can we do what those lazy Chevy guys do and just put in any motor that will fit? If so, I'm gonna convert my Max to diesel! (Just kidding...Then it would be a VW Rabbit)

Damn skippy! If we are dreaming, why not just put a RB26DETT and AWD in a 3rd gen, I think that would be pretty sweet.

I don't like many of the new Nissan bodies either. The new Altima actually looks okay but, why does every car manufacturer have to make their cars all round now? I think it really takes away the aggressive look, such as with new Max's, compared to 3rd gen's. I wish they had kept the same basic 3rd gen design and just beefed it up a little. Oh well, I guess I have to win the lottery too!

BTW, have you guys ever considered a RB20DET? I've been reading up on it and they use it in the Cefiro. Supposedly, the Cefiro has similar dimensions to the 3rd gen's so, who knows? Maybe motor mounts and the engine bay in general is similar enough that it could be possible. Its not exactly a RB26DETT but hey, its still a Skyline engine a puts out about 205hp if I remember correctly (in JDM but here it might be a little less). Just thought I should throw that idea out there but I doubt anyone will do it. Man, we need to find some rich billionaire and get him into 3rd gen's. Then we could get him to drop a Chevy 350 in one and get some serious 4DSC power!

Oh yeah, almost forgot something. My good friend, a mechanic for 30+ yrs is thinking about getting an Audi Quattro 4wd drivetrain, from some wrecked Audi, and retrofitting it to something like a Nova SS! This guy is nuts but, I'm already getting EVIL ideas! I'm going to see if he thinks it would be possible to rig something like that up for my Max. Damn that would be sweet to have a 4wd Maxima.
