Maxima Quick Release

Hello guys and before my car comes back from the shop I want to get a head start improving the look of the interior. Firstly, I would like to get a quick release steering wheel.

I am oblivious to how these should go on so I have a few questions before I jump the gun.

My car is a 91 gxe with no airbags. In order to take the stock wheel off and put on the quick release what all would I need? I did a fair amount of research and I'm not sure if the steering hub and the quick release hub are the same thing.

1) Is it possible to do this for a 91gxe?
2) Do I need to buy a hub+adapter specific to my year of car? (The ones I've seen online run "89-98". Or are there universal quick release hubs and adapts and wheels?

3 ) what do I need? : an adapter+hub or just an adapter or just a hub for the quick release. I'd like to know everything I need for the swap.

Also, I did find this and was wondering if this was what I should need : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007SP3OOE/ref=ox_sc_sfl_image_5?ie=UTF8&m=A3DJQ73ALF5AZ7

Lastly, I did find an 89-98 quick release for the maxima along with the nrg steering wheel all on ebay. I would buy it separate but I just want to know if to that'd be all I needed. Thanks in advance!

quick release and hub are entirely different. hub bolts to where your OEM steering wheel goes, then the quick release bolts ontop of that so you can remove your steering wheel

if you have no airbags, its alot easier. i threw a quick release and hub on my old Hardbody. just removed the center piece of the steering wheel, removed the big nut, and after that the steering wheel will most likely be seized on being a old car so you need to rent or buy a steering wheel puller. after that, just bolt on the hub, then the quick release, then new steering wheel

airbag is more work, you have to disconnect the battery so the bag doesnt blow up in your face and you need torx bits i believe to remove the airbag itself. when i installed everything on my Hardbody, it took about 30 minutes. mainly because the steering wheel was welded on and there was a huge kaboom when the old wheel let go

i think most OEM steering wheels have just a big nut holding them down, on my Hardbody thats what there was. you then use that big nut to bolt down the hub adapter, then you use the 6 bolts to bolt the steering wheel to the adapter. if youre using a quick release, you bolt down the adapter with the big nut, then 6 bolts for the quick release to the adapter, then 6 more bolts for the steering wheel to the quick release

doesn't that move the steering wheel closer to you since there's additional height from the hub?

with the adapter its not too bad, but with the quick release added on it gets noticeably closer to you. bothered me at first a bit but i got used to it after a week
