I have a 93 maxima gxe and since the last week my car leaks all the oil i put in it. I put 1 quart and it leaks it in hours! Tho it comes out black. Ever since i washed the engine it started happening or atleast i noticed. I checked the engine and valve covers aren't leaking it, oil filter isnt and neither the screw to unlock the old oil. Now the bars that connect the front wgeels are drenched in oil . Please help me out. Car runs prefectlt y but ticks because has no oil or low oil

Have you looked under the front to see where the oil is dripping/streaming from, sounds like one of the main front/rear oil seals might have failed.

I checked where the leakis and it seems to be near by the exhaust manifold or under where the interiors mid dash would be at

total guess...broken oil pressure sensor? it's next to the filter.

the sensor is cheap...as long as half if it is not broken in there.

Theirs not really a mess im guessing by the oil filter, tho their is like a small tube thats laying around it near it connected to nothing.

upload the picture to photobucket, tinypic, or some other hosting site. upload it there, hit view image, copy the URL, click the yellow and gray mountain icon in a new post on this site, paste the link, and it should show up

You washed the engine and this leak developed after said wash and you have found a small hose that is not connected to anything afterwards? That hose could be a crank case ventilation tube and if it is then that is where you are possibly loosing the oil. My maxima is not here yet or I would have a look.

I think the hose to nowhere is the transmission vent tube, if it has a metal hook-shaped end on it.
I'm agreeing with DanNY that it's the oil pressure sending unit. I can't imagine an engine wash would break that thing unless it had a crack in it already. But if it did, it would gush oil when running if it is broken.

It's about a $10 part at Autozone or other parts store.

Just make sure you use thread sealant or Teflon tape when installing to prevent any leakage around the threads. Don't let any Teflon tape get into the passage when installing. Don't tighten it like a gorilla, but needs to be in there firmly so you don't get any leaks.

it's next to the oil filter on the back side (firewall side) of the block. should be a single wire coming out of it.

i assume it's leaking out when it's running and sometimes a little less when it's not running.

BUT if you're just leaking out a ton of oil and the car is not running then i would look at your oil pan. your cleaning may have broken loose a rust spot on the oil pan and it's possible that the oil is now coming out from that spot.

again these are all random guesses.

do us a favor...

jack up the car...support the car w/ jack stands.
crawl under it...now have someone pour a quart of oil in...and crawl under and see where it's coming out from.

if you're losing THAT much oil and it's leaking when it's off then it should be VERY VERY obvious the location of the leak.

if you're asking me where the oil pan is then you probably never got under the car to change the oil...because the drain plug bolt into the oil pan.

i'm going to call oil pan hole...when it's running the oil is circulating in the motor and not sitting in the pan...once off the oil settles back down it leaks out. it's probably on the side of the pan.

you happen to live in an area where it snows and salt is used to melt snow/ice on the road?

STOP RUNNING THE ENGINE WITH NO OIL. If it is losing that much oil just jack it up, pour in some oil and watch where it comes from. You obviously broke something.
