another auto tranny question

My 91 se auto max hova problems in the transmition, its feels like a spining clucth. when shifting it dont fells like taking the gear inmidiatly, its take like 2 seconds to take it and a hard sounds came frm the tranny. that was 1 moth ago. I took it to the machanic and he takes out the tranny and take avery thing out, rebuild the tranny with every thing new(I bougth a tranny kit from nissan that came with every thing). Then now the car have the same thing but when it gets finaly the gear dont came a hard sound from the tranny.
A friend of mine told me that its the friccion plate and disc but I dont know. A auto tranny have that? He means the torque converter?
What do you thing its the problem?

only thing i can give you is to check the fluid (no doubt that you may have already) but see if it is low or smell if its burning first. Mine was taking a good 2 seconds longer to switch, and it was only cause it was almost 2 qts low!
what are the specifics on your tranny, miles, last fluid change, full synthetic or what not?
