Annoying factory alarm..

So i am wondering is there any way to disable the factory alarm? Basically over the past few months for unknown reasons, alot of times when i go unlock my door(whether it be with the key or keyless entry pad) the alarm will start going off and i have to run and open the trunk to turn it off. This is getting very annoying especially when im at a public place and it does it..Does anyone know how to fix this or to just disable the alarm all together? Thank.

Pull the fuse. If you turn the key on the drivers side door twice it should shut it off. I've never heard of anyone disabling it at the trunk. Sounds pretty messed up. Maybe an electrical issue?

Trying to recall the issue about this. It was either the keypad or the cylinder in the driver's door. That's why you can go and unlock the trunk and it goes off. Although, I would have thought once the alarm was triggered, unlocking from another door/trunk wouldn't shut off, but obviously that is not true.

You could just unplug the alarm. Then install an aftermarket unit, which would add a remote for lock/unlock. You would naturally just tap into several functions from the factory alarm harness to make things simple.... for example, horn and parking lights are all already right there.

This is basically what I did. The only difference is that I kept the factory alarm plugged in. I effectively then could arm two alarms at once if I wanted.

Yes i believe thats what the manual says to do is either the passenger door or trunk to turn it off.

If im not mistaken the fuse is under the hood but you could also diconnect the module under the dash on the drivers side.

Does the security light on the dash stay on, because i unplugged the 10 amp anti theft fuse under the dash and the anti theft module relay under the hood but the light is still on.

No, it is not supposed to stay on, blink yes. Put the fuse back in and re connect whatever it is that you unplugged under the hood. Then remove the driver side lower dash panel and unplug the anti-theft module to the right of the fuse panel as mentioned, black connector. This will completely disable the factory alarm without any interruption of the keyless entry or any other accessory. You most likely have a bad micro switch somewhere in the locking system, either front doors, hood switch, trunk switch or a bad alarm module.
