Hey everybody so I was driving my 1992 Nissan Maxima and i floored it (after a complete stop to beat traffic) and all of a sudden my car just shut down. I pulled over to the side and tried turning it back on... it would turn over and make the sound but it wouldn't start. Every time I tried turning the key... the smell of rotten eggs would come up. I then waited about 10 minutes tried a few more times and it finally turned on. The revs were ranging between 500 and 2 thousand as i turned it on. I figured I would drive it to my house and call triple a from there. I began to drive and it was very jerky when i slowly pressed on the pedal ranging from power to no power. I finally came to a stop light and the car just shut down again. I left it for a day and apparently it's working now. Any idea what happened?

The smell of rotten eggs usually means that the catalytic converter went out. It's a possibility that when you floored it, the material inside the catalytic broke apart and clogged your exhaust, which could then be the reason why the car wouldn't start at that time.
