Heavy Fuel Smell Outside/Inside Car

Heavy Fuel Smell Outside/Inside Car
After starting vehicle cold/warm (weather) there is a HEAVY odor of gas outside and inside vehicle. Seems to be really overwhelming if your "warming" up vehicle in below 30 deg weather, example turning on windshield defrost. I fixed one possible problem of a dry rotted hose on the fuel rail but doesn't seem to have fixed the problem.
After searching for remedy on forums and WWW I am trying to find either the correct solution here at Maxima.Org, or start from what I read about has something to do with the vapor recovery lines?
However; Where are they? What to inspect? How to repair?
Please except my gratitude in advance.![Stick Out Tongue](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)

I have the same your car. After you started in the sub 30 weather let it run for two minutes, turn it off, open the hood and look in the engine and see if you can see any wet area where fuel was coming out anywhere. I had some fuel visible where the fuel line came into the fuel rail and had the mechanic tighten the clamp. That seems to fix the issue for the most part. However I still have a slight smell if I bring the car in the garage before the engine is fully warmed up. It's likely one of the rubber gaskets or hoses either in near fuel injectors or somewhere nearby, but I can't locate it yet either. You probably had the issue in the back of the car with the fuel filler with the rubber hose vent as well already? If you havent, it could be that too, but The condition you're talking about sounds like it's coming from the engine and not the back of the car.
Such is life with a 20-year-old car. I think I may need to retire it down south.
