Hesitation/Stalling issue
Hesitation/Stalling issue
Our 1994 Maxima GXE had a problem.
My son drives it, and he reported back that it had a hesitation, at random, I kind of blew it off for a while as it was "at random".
Nearly impossible to troubleshoot those random issues -
Recently, he took the car on a long trip, and coming home on the highway, he said that he literally had to floor to car to go up hills - time for action.
I drove the car, seemed to run fine when cold, then it warmed up and yes - it lost power, in a big way.
We had originally thought about cleaning the throttle body, I did clean the MAF sensor, now, I figured I better just do what needs to be done.
OK, we had spark, I pulled a wire and checked.
And we were getting fuel, heck, it ran. I did not check compression, and we recently changed the cap and rotors.
So, I decided to check a spark plug to get things started.
Well, I replaced them when we got the car, and I used "standard" plugs. The gap had grown, out of spec, and the tips were rounded.
Oh - OK.......
I went to the autoparts store (NOT WALMART) and bought a set of Iridium NGK plugs, and a fuel filter for good measure.
Replaced those items, fricking car runs like a million bucks again.
Sometimes it's a easy fix, I'm glad this was one of those "sometimes".
FYI only guys, thanks!
