Homemade Intake Questions
What's the part number for the K&N cone intake? And about how much should it cost? Like I want to make my own popcharger. I went to Autozone yesterday and couldn't find anything that resembled one and all of those were like 40 bucks.
Try Pep Boys POP..
Cleary K&N is higher quality, but Pep Boys sells an APC cone filter for $24.99 which is an easy bolt on. I got the chrome "Intimidator" filter (that was all they had at the time), and hooked it up in about 45 minutes last night (fortunately the "intimidator label is not visible when installed).
Remove the airbox and remove metal bracket inside the airbox which bolts to MAF (use drill to drill out two rivets). A few minutes with tin snips and pliers to straighten out the air horn, then hose clamp on the APC filter. Screw back onto the MAF and you're done.
I'm saving for a CAI, but this is an easy, inexpensive mod which looks fine and complements my new Y-pipe & muffler. Got pics if you need 'em...

Here's some shots..
Hope this link will lead you to the pics. Not foam - wire mesh/cotton gauze K&N-style filter. Let me know if you can't get to the shots...
