91 Maxima Cruse Control Troubleshooting

I just bought a 91 Maxima and the cruise control does not work. The dash light doesn't even come on when I push the button. My first step would be to check the fuse but the cover for my fuse box is missing and I don't have a fuse diagram. Does anyone know where I can find a fuse diagram for this car (would be useful for a few purposes). I did some searches and couldn't find anything.

Beyond the fuse I took a look at the vacuum lines and they appear to be fine. Can anyone tell me what steps to take after checking the fuse (if I can't find a diagram I might just pull all of them until I find a bad one)? One post I found on this forum talked about the connection inside the steering wheel being bad. Is this something I should be looking at? Any tips on this would be appreciated as i have never worked on this type of cruise control and I currently don't even have a repair manual to look at.

If you search you can find the fsm on here (factory service manual) for your car. Is it the se or gxe? Have you checked the throttle cable on the cruise control to make sure it's not sticking? Who knows when it was last used it's a 23 yr old car.

Pretty sure it is an SE (white instruments, Bose system, ect.). The throttle cable looks fine. I'm gonna do a search for that service manual. That might help.

Edit: I just searched this site and google and a few posts with links to the fsm came up but they were old posts and all the links were dead.

Considering the age of these cars, check if there's a grommet on the cruise control cancel switch which is next to the brake switch on the pedal. Last year, the brake switch grommet dry rotted and came off and a few months after that the cruise control grommet came off too.

Here's the link for a 94 FSM, which most stuff also applies to the 91

You can also get a 1994 manual here:

http://boredmder.com/FSMs/Nissan/Maxima/1994/

the cruise control is called ASCD by Nissan, Automatic Speed Control Device. When looking in the index of the manual (IDX.PDF), look up ASCD.
