Hello. my 1990 nissan maxima transmission quit working. it wont shift into any gear. as i was entering the highway it was driving fine but it never shift to second gear it just rev high then it wouldnt move its like the transmission its in neutral. the shift lever changes to all gears but car doesnt move. any help its appreciated thanks

5 speed or auto?????
If 5 speed, clutch probably went south.
If auto, could be a number of things.

those auto trans are known to be weak, sounds like your trans went out unless the fluid level is low

Actually that happens to me a lot. It usually happens right after I turn on the car. I think the term is "slipping".
It doesn't shift , just keeps higher and higher revs

Turn it off wait for belts to stop moving then turn back on.

And you notice it immediately that it feels "heavier" to drive or accelerate
