Tranny oil addatives*
#3
I recently started using Lubegard (http://www.bulkparts.com/MM007.ASP?pageno=174) in the red bottle. Good stuff. Makes shifting quicker and smoother. It takes about 25 miles of driving for it to do its thing.

Did the mystery oil (MMO) ever work for you?

The MMO made the shifts quicker and firmer (some varnish cleaned off the selenoids?). Remember though. MMO should be used in a transmission as a mild flushing agent, and not a long term additive. About 4 days after I put the MMO in I did a complete fluid exchange and switched to synthetic ATF. Lubegard is an additive put in after a change that stays in until the next scheduled fluid change.

Of the 10 oz. bottle, how much exactly did you add?
Did you do another drain and refill before you added this?

Whatever you do DO NOT use Slick 50 high mileage treatment or any other thick additive. I put Slick 50 in mine to help it last longer since it was starting to slip and I think it caused my transmission to finally die within a month.

I have used Slick 50 in the past and had no problems. I also added Z-max trans formula and had no problems. I do believe in MMO however, due to the many positive responses from hundreds of real people testimonials.
I think all additives are "snake oils" including LubeGard.
I think from now on I'll just stick with regular good 'ol ATF!

I'm using the Lubegard in a Mystique trans that holds 10qts, so 10 ozs the the perfect amount (1 oz per qt of fluid). I would just use the whole bottle in the Max trans.
I generally don't use oil additives (engine/trans). The only I even tried the Lubegard is because it is highly recommended by a pertroleum engineer on the Yahoo, Infiniti board (and he's even older than me). Most of the stuff out there is junk, but there are a few good products.
