Does anyone know about recalls?
My 89GXE is rusting bad on the drivers side rear wheelwell,leaks gas when full,and the seatbelt anchor on the rear drivers side has broken free.

I`ve read that Nissan has a recall for this very same problem.

My question is,
1. How do I find out if mine has had this done (although I doubt it)
2. Is there a time or milage limit to this

I guess I should call a dealer too, but I`m a lazyass
Any info would be appreciated.

 

im not 100% sure what you are asking for, but all of those problems you are having is just from poor upkeep from the car and wear and tear due to age

 

take it to a dealer and let them run the vin through their computer. they should be able to tell you if it was done or not. If not you have to leave it with them for a few days to have it repaired and have
it repaired.

Even if it was repaired i suspect that you may be able to get it covered again because it was not done properly the second time either.

The recall number for this is NHTSA Campaign ID # 95V244000 (check out www.nhtsa.dot.gov). The range of vehicle manufacture dates is from Aug '88 thru Feb '94.

You can call Nissan at 1-800-647-7261, give them your VIN, and they'll tell you whether it was done on your car or not. There should be no time limit on it.

 

i visited the site above and i don't know about tha rest you guys, but i'm sending a complaint to them about the VTC's in 3rd gen Max's. I figure that if more than half of peoples cars are having this problem, then Nissan should be liable to fix it. I know its probably not that easy to get tha NHTSA to have them recall this expensive problem....but hey, worth giving it a shot.

 

upkeep has nothing to do with it. there was a problem with the fuel filler neck..rusting in that area of the car.
please do your research before you doubt people about their upkeep.

i went to the same thing that dave went to but the ID number sent me to the stanza...which is the same problem. i'm bringing mine to the dealership and having them fix it.

The recall was never done on my MAX and they`re gonna fix it next week. I might have them touch up a few other places as well.
Now all I need is a recall for my digital dash and I`m in there.
Once I get all the bullsheet taken care of I can MAX it out, so to speak.
