How to replace PCV valve

I ran a search in this forum but couldn't find it. Maybe it is too easy for you to point out.

Ok, My full story:
---After running with low fuel (needle pointed to "Empty"), my car becomes idling rough.
---Tried many things to imrove it: new fuel filter, cleaned TB, cleaned injector wire connectors
---The rough idle still comes sometimes. Especially when I brake to stop, idle becomes rough right away, the tachometer usually jump several times. I also noticed it is never rough when engine is cold.

I'm exhausted with this car. PCV valve will be the last attempt i'll make to improve it. Can anybody tell me where is it?

it's gray/silver in color.
looking from the front..it's upper right of the intake manifold (where it says 3000 SHOC) or something like that. there's a hose connected to it. you have to basically disconnect the hose and unscrew the PCV valve out. if you know where the coolant bleeder screw/bolt is..it's right next to it.

BTW...u try getting FI serviced at the dealer? they run the concentrated cleaner through the fuel rail to flush out the injectors.

I am having a similar problem. Can anybody tell me how I change my PCV valve? And where is it? Nobody can find it for me. Most mechanics that I talk to say that I don't have one. I know I do.

VE PCV Valve

The VE PCV Valve is behind the intake manifold, on the passenger side. Look about 5-6 inches below the top of the manifold, right around where it says Nissan. There should be a hose running into a diagonally-seated valve. There's your PCV valve. It was a ***** to remove, but easy to put in the replacement. The hardeest part (for me) was getting the damn hose crimper off (its tough to work in that cramped area. Good luck!

still a question on VG 3000

Which one is the bleeder screw? is it the one located next to the TB, and the one used to adjust idle speed?

Is PCV the block of aluminum on which that screw stays?

New sympton of my car:

when I start the car with a foot on the brake padel, it seems hard to start, has to struggle several seconds to stabilize the tacho. But if I start it without touching the brake, it starts fine.

So I suspect the rough idle has sth to do with power brake system?
because it draws power from engine.

Any pro helps?!!!

the TB is lower center..i said upper right...open the hood..stand infront of the car...look upper right of the intake manifold,
it's there.
there's a decently sized hose attached to it. at this point if you're not sure where it is..may be a good idea to take it to a pro or at least have someone who knows about the car show u where it is.

when your foot is on the brake vacume pressure drops...so it takes a few extra seconds for vacume to be built up for engine to run right. bigger questions is WHY do u have your foot on the brake when you start the car?

just happened to do that, but it shows diverse behavior under different conditions, this is good for diagnose.

one more stupid ques( DanNY will get faint ):

PCV is on which side of MAF? air filter side or TB side?

ok i'll try to type b4 i get blisters..heehee

the PCV is not really part of the intake track. it's connected to the intake manifold...the solid alum thing bolted to the top of the engine.
it's crankcase vent...so it really has nothing to do w/ MAF and TB.
it's gray in color..but it might be slightly rusted. but it's all metal construction. i belive you'll need a 17MM socket to unbolt it.
i'll try to work on pics if it's something you really want to tackle.

Somebody have a pic of it on the VE? If not, is it in about the same location as on the VG? Thanks.

Could that be his AAC valve. I've replaced one on a pickup before (see "Idle drops when braking..."), just wondering what symptoms I should look for in case mine starts to go bad.

Just a wild guess, but the rough idling could be due to a frayed harness connection. My sister's car (MB) just had this problem--RPM surges when she came to a stop. I think it was her engine harness? That would be my last resort as it was very expensive. Hope it works out for you.

did you ever figure this out ? I'm also getting a rough idle at a stop light or while in park...sometimes...it stalls from too low RPM... I've replaced fuel filter, plugs, cleaned TB ...even checked the PCV valve...the hose connecting to the PCV valve had some cracks in it...i fixed that..but still the idle is rough !!!

I was wondering, did replacing your pcv valve help smooth out the
rough idle ?

I know I have a vacuum leak somewhere, but I dont know where it is. Any info on locating all vacuum lines would be a great help.
