93 Maxima

Ive had my 93 Maxima GXE for about a year now. I've done oil changes on it, added my own personal touch; it's a great car. Sadly whoever had it before me didn't take the best care of it. I had a lot of problems with it not starting this past winter after the engine was fully warm; it would only start when it was ice cold. I never really figured out why it was doing that and I definitely didn't have the time, knowledge or money to look into it. It now has about 212k miles on it. I had issues with it idling and downshifting really rough; now it idles really low when in drive/reverse. While sitting at stop lights it'll idle rough, from 450 to 500 rpm and the needle will bounce. I've done a lot of research on it and I've found that possibly cleaning my IACV will help significantly. I've cleaned the MAF sensor along with the throttle body, it's had a new fuel filter and air filter put in it as well. I just ordered new plugs and wires for it, so those will be added to this list here shortly. My question to anyone who is reading, where would I find the IACV? No matter how much research I do or how many people I ask, nobody knows for sure. I want to take good care of this car, I love it and like for it to last awhile longer. Anything knowledge or suggestions is welcome.

Parts that are new:
Air filter
Fuel filter & pump
Ignition coil
Distributor cap & rotor
Ignition control module
Plugs & wires

You'd only need a new gasket if you damage the original gasket and/or it ruins itself when you remove it. A lot of times, the gasket will stick to one side and tend to rip itself. Just be very cognizant of the gasket when you're messing with it and you should be able to keep it intact.

From what you are describing. Seems like a pad temp sensor. A bad temp sensor will cause erratic idle and hard warm starts. The high resistance caused by corrosion on the contents will make the ecu think the engine is to hot and will trigger it's "don't kill me mode" which will prevent the car from starting or not have power forcing you to cool the car down. it has happened to my cars (all Nissan's) after it overheated it didn't want to turn on an would run like crap. The part is cheap to buy and replace, just clean out the contacts and if the connector is in real bad shape replace it .

Change out the CHTS vg famous for having issues with it go bad. Causing all kinds rich lean condistions which also affect your idle.
