Will driving on "2" do any damage to the tranny?

Today I did something very stupid. I unknowingly drove my automatic SE for about 10 minutes on the "2" gear. I finally realized I was in that gear when I saw the tachometer going past 3,000 RPM. I immediate put the gear back in "D" while the car was moving. Maybe I should have come to a full stop before putting it in "D".

However, all of this driving was in the city not going past 45 MPH.

Did I do damage whether immediate or something I will find out later down the road.

Don't worry about it dude, no harm done.

Just prepare to fork up 300,000,000,000 for a new tranny. j/k

No damage done, as long as you didn't go past redline for a long period of time which it sounds like you didn't, and when you put it back into drive you're just letting it shift into 3rd and 4th.
