Reading consult codes

Is there a way to get the MIL (check engine light) to flash giving your codes out of the ECU? Do you have to have the consult unit to read ecu codes? I've done some searchs but haven't found any clear answers.

No you don't have to have the Consult to read the check engine codes, but the Consult is good for other tests and diagnostics.

Best thing to do is get a repair manual or FSM. That should have the procedure and code definitions in it.
