Actually this is where you are wrong...ALL "newer" as stated by gold4dsc are turbo. The last gen of rx-7's made from 93-99 in the US were ALL twin turbo putting out about 255 horses and 217 ft lbs of torque...get your info straight before posting

i will give ANYONE here 100 bucks cash if you can find me a 3rd gen RX-7 without a turbo in it...one that's actually running in good condition on the road not in a junk yard. go ahead "dummy" find one..i'm talking 93+ now.

now why don't YOU take a sec and think before you post.

Check out the new Sport compact car and read about the newest import drag contenders. Almost all use 2 or 3 rotor rotaries. Those things rock! If this guy beat a 3rd gen rx7, he has one cherry vg or that mazda was too busy scratching his nuts to worry about that race..My bet is the itchy nuts!

correct...but at the same point you can say if the RX7 was boosted right it would wipe the floor on a turbo VG..no?

Ok guys... heres the scoop on RX-7's:

The 3rd gen RX-7 was imported from 1993 - 1995, all of them were twin turbo cars with 255 hp stock. They weigh ~2800lbs and I think the statistic is that 90% of them are 5spds. (Automatic is RARE)

2nd gen RX-7's were imported from 1986 - 1991. 86-88 Non-turbo cars (no hood scoop) had 146hp and would run the 1/4 in about 16 flat. They bumped the HP up to 160hp for the 89-91 but they still were about as fast because they increased the weight. 87-88 Turbo RX-7s (what I have) came stock with 182hp / 183lbs of torque. These cars should run low 15's in stock form.

Honestly the only car that I can see a VG running anywhere near is a non-turbo 2nd gen. I think that's very realistic, but to hang with ANY of the turbo cars... well... good luck...

Also keep in mind that the turbo cars can be modified easily... and respond fairly well to mods... for examply my 87 is putting down 212.7 rwhp and 211.9lbs of torque. And I don't have a whole lot of stuff done...

Yes my friend they are, espeically when someone doesn't know what they're talking about. Like saying some 93-97 RX-7's were made without turbos.

though i am talking out of my *** here,..
any 3rd gen rx (barring the fact it is fuxored) would destroy most all maxima's, now 2nd gens might actually depend on driving / mods
but there is a huge difference in the body of the car, i would hope you could tell,

love the bs flag

If "newer" rx-7 means circa '91 or earlier, then yeah maybe. But like chrispy said, those 1.3's in the '93+ are nothing to be taken lightly.

hmmm

well just for refrences, i ran against a 2nd gen non-turbo rx7, he had alot of mods, exhaust, filter no ac belt, ignition, short shifter, bunch of other **** he told me i dont even remember, our race was for 3rd place in C bracket, and i was kinda scared of racing him, plus i had my straight pipe on at that time. So we lined up it was his 17.1 against mine 16.5. Now i have a 3rd place trophy sitting at home.
