Got rear-ended
Man it sucks. Anyway, here's the short story. I was coming home from the Alderwood Mall (this is Washington State) and I was getting ready to make a right turn on to 164th St SW from Ash Way. Slam! This guy in an Acura Vigor rear-ends me. I thought he was doing about 10-15 MPH when he hit me...So I get out, the other guy immediately apologized and we assessed the damage. I have some light scuff marks to the right of the license plate on the rear-bumper. The bumper is also slightly dimpled in the area right above the license plate.
It wasn't bad as I thought (Maximas are tough).
Trunk opened and closed like it always did. I looked underneath the car and the actual bumper beam looked fine. The mounting bar and the bolts looked fine also.
My guess is that the styrofoam inside the bumper got flattened above the license plate and I need the bumper cover repainted.
He said he prefers to pay cash as he doesn't want to deal with insurance co...
So here's the question. If you had this sort of thing happen to you, about how much was it to fix? It's Sunday tomorrow, so I can't get an estimate until Monday...

yup.. repainting urethane/plastic parts isn't cheap, as whenever they repaint, they have to completely strip the old paint, clean it up, THEN fix any cracks/scratches/dents and paint it. very labor intensive- about twice that of metal work.
Then they have to add a flex agent to the paint, which is hard to paint with and increases cost yet again.
On the good note, sounds like you (the other guy actually) got out lucky in that the damage wasn't any worse than that.

Re: Got rear-ended
my bumper dented and cracked and i was hit at around 40 mph...which i think is PRETTY HARD! but anyways... i'm getting my bumper replaced and my pretty mufflers, and license plate fixed...and it's all costing under 1000.
