I put the SE wheel on my GXE (finally) no problems it bolted right up and steers better then the old one and man does it look better. that gxe wheel looks like dog ****.

 

oh thats exactly what i want to do! Was it difficult, hooking up the cruis buttons and all? How much did you buy the wheel for? i hate my wheel, i actually think its one of the ugliest parts of the car, the 4 spoker looks much better. thanks

How many kinds or stock Maxima steering wheels are there? I have a '93 GXE with stock steering wheel, and it is a 4 spoke, and looks good. Does the SE have a different steering wheel? Please enlighten me...Thanks

 

The difference in GXE wheels is a result of having air bags. The latter GXE wheels look much more like the SE wheels. There are other Nissan steering wheels, which use the same the same cruise control buttons, but have different number/location of spokes. My 91 Stanza had a decent looking 3 spoke wheel that should be a direct replacement. I also seem to recall some nice looking Sentra SE wheels from that era.

 

the only hard part is getting it off, you have to wiggle it a little and pull hard. i would say the gxe star trek wheel sucks. and the se non airbag wheel looks really nice. theres a 19 mm bolt under the center of the wheel and the cruise is just a plug and the horn has a couple plugs.
