1992 Nissan Maxima SE Not Cranking / Not Starting
Greeting to all My Fellow Maxima Owners. I have a delema here. I have a 92' Nissan Maxima that won't do anything when I turn the 🗝️ Key. This just happen without any warning. One day I'm driving the next day it's not starting. I suspect the "Anti -Theft" module issue. And I'll tell you why, for a long time, when I opened the drivers door the "Alarm" is activated. To prevent this from happening, I was required to open the rear Driver's Side Passenger door {which was unlocked} before opening the Drivers door, and the alarm did not go off. So one day in January 2026, without giving it any thought, I accidently opened the "Drivers Door" and the alarm did not activate. The vehicle started, I ran an errand, came back home, parked it. But on the 3rd day I was in the process of moving it, and as I turned the 🗝️ key,.......NOTHING!!!!! All the accessories come on except the engine won't start. Some Youtubers have said it was the ignition switch, another one said the starter, then the battery, then a relay. I may be wrong, but I have a gut feeling the "Anti - Theft Module" has malfunctioned. I would like to know if anyone in this Forum has had this problem, or do they know anyone else who has experienced a problem similar to this🤔and what steps they took to isolate the issue and repair it. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You Very Much

Try starting it with the shifter in neutral (foot on the brake same time, on a level surface of course...) 15 odd years back I had a similar issue where my 1992 GXE would do nothing when the key was turned and acted like a completely bad starter, 3 starters later someone on here said to try starting it in neutral and that fixed it. Turned out the bushing on the auto shifter was completely cooked so it wasn't recognizing the shifter being in park leading to no crank no start. 5 buck bushing and it was all good after
If starting it in neutral doesn't fix it and it appears to be an alarm system issue for sure, try the alarm reset procedure per this thread

Open the car insert the key, turn the acc on and lock the door , and then unlock the door twice I believe and you're good to go!
