What's up guys! anyone recognize this turbo 3rd gen?
I messaged the guy. doesn't sound like he built it. anyone recognize it?
kicking around buying it and fixing the trans. It's everything i wanted to do to mine. But a build post would be awesome. I can't imagine this is a recent build.
so i talked to the guy that sold it to this guy. he drove it for 2 years with minimal issues. the current owner killed it in pretty much 2 days lol. gonna pass on this one.
Good idea. You'll save yourself the headaches. No one who knows what they are doing would use that many zip ties. It makes you question the quality of everything else.
Unless i'm blind af what does he want for it? It's definitely a garage built setup but if he wants under $5k for it, wouldn't be a bad thing to pickup to fix and actually do properly with the guts all done already
Almost thought that was JoeBoost's 3rd gen but apparently not lol

If you're mechanically inclined enough to clean it up and want a project myself I think it wouldn't hurt to toss a $2800-$3k offer. Only thing is tough to say if the guy knows it's a major internal trans issue or if he's clueless and it could be a simple bad slave cylinder. But if you go into it expecting to replace the trans and dump 30-40hrs cleaning the build up, would be a decent buy if you can do the work yourself
Having a built turbo car myself I can say the costs do add up if you leave it to the pros but if you can do lots yourself especially fabrication, you're golden

great points, and fabrication capabilities are big

If it wasn't 8 hours away id probably grab it just to see.
Depends how bad he overheated it at that point, a failing distributor can also cause an engine to not start warm but fire up after cooling off a bit. I only know Haltech ECU but the Link ECU maybe has a safemode that won't let it fire up if it's overheating? Not too sure
What I don't get is why he appears to still be running the distributor even when he has the Link ECU? First thing I did on the NA-T on my 2JZGTE was dump the distributor and convert to coilpacks run by the Haltech, especially if the thing was built for high boost the most I would bother using the dizzy for is purely a cam signal but anyway...
Knowing all this, tough to say but myself I would toss a $2000-$2500 offer. Offsets the cost of a 8hr tow and potentially rebuilding/swapping the transmission and potentially pulling the heads. If you've got the mechanical knowhow and 5-6 weekends to **** away working on it, wouldn't be a bad buy. But if you would be having a shop do the work, it'll add up fast to the point it wouldn't be worth it and you would have a $15k-$25k invoice to do everything properly
