Plastic block behind the pedal? and timing?

Plastic block behind the pedal? and timing?

What is that little plastic block behind the acclereator bedal doing there and will i mess anything up if i take that crap off. and how hard would it be to advance the timing on my 92' gxe. auto.

Removing that plastic block will not do anything. You are already at WOT when the gas pedal hits it. Removing it may cause you to snap your throttle cable or bend your throttle plate from overturning in the throttle body.

Yes he is sure, as am I. If you want to verify it for yourself, then simply pop the hood and manually move the throttle to WOT (car off of course!), then have a friend press the pedel to the floor and you will see that it stops at about the same place. If if makes you feel better, I personally removed the block behind the pedel and compared the distance the throttle would move, it didn't move any more and I could see the amount of strain on the cables, which is not good. Plus, you'll have that peice of metal sticking out of the floor which would look stupid. Timing: move the crank angle sensor. Of course you need a timing light.

yes, we're sure. been done before. nothing but problems. if you want to buy a new throttle cable and throttle body, then please do it. if not, then take our advice and leave it be. nissan wasn't dumb when they put it there.

yea keep it on...in fact im thinking of adding another piece of plastic or wood or a bigger stopper like that so i cant floor it...ive been too floor-happy lately and my mpg has been sucky
