Re: My Antenna Is Stuck

everyone's is...no really though, it is a common problem. there are many replacements out there that you could get. you could go with a new motorized one, or any other kind.

im not sure if this is the best solution but this is what i did... i pulled up the antenna so its fully out and then used a silicone spray on a rag to wipe it down to get the dirt off the antenna and to smooth it so it didnt get stuck, now it works fine

i tried that cause my friend's dad's car had that problem, but it didn't help on mine. so i don't know if i didn't lube it up enough or if it was just some other problem, but i hear the motor too.

Yeah.... its kinda long process in taking out the right bolts of the seatbelt, taking off the carpet screws and then taking out the last screws behind the carpet next to where the jack goes... it not har just a pain.. Make sure that you push the attena down so that you are able to take the whole peice out... then its disconnect all the wiring and water drain hose.there is a big srew on the attena motor... if your lucky the plastic peice that makes the attenna go up and down might be off the gears... all you have to do is add more gear grease and make certain that all the gears and plasitc line move freely...

If you dont want to go through the hassle and think that the damn thing is broken just by a universal attenna.... but make sure that you disconnect the battery so that you wont blow a fuse or burn the motor.. I learned the hard way...ble that motor to the new attenna on my fathers 89 max.....

I will take some pics... My attenna was not working either since i bought the car in sept of 2001, and some kid around my neighborhood broke my atttenna in half.... Not really hard thing to do... but will take about 10-20 if your good with tools...

I took my antenna apart in hopes of finding a broken piece of plastic inside. Didn't happen. I don't know what the problem is now since the mast was brand new when I bought it from the previous owner. The motor seems to run fine too. Just letting you all know that the problem is not always the broken mast.

I had the same problem. you can get an atenna mast from the dealer for about $30.00 and install it yourself. No need to pull out the entire motor. Just feed the plastic through until motor catches. This required 2 people to do. My 5 year old helped me. it was that easy. I hope this helps.
