Fixed Clunking Strut Problem

Fixed Clunking Strut Problem
Today my car was clunking really bad when I would go over any kind of bump, it was doing it for quite it while but has gotten worse in the past few days. I pushed on the fender and looked underneath the hood. It turns out that it was the drivers side strut bolt, the one that is in the center and screws directly on the strut holding the strut mount on. I took that round plastic cover off and pushed on the fender and I could see the bolt going up and then bumping back down. Anyways I tightened it (it was really loose) and now it doesn't clunk anymore. It could have been a real problem if that bolt would have fell off, and it's the first fix that I've done that was free so I'm pretty excited!

Eeek! glad you caught that!
that's a scary bolt to lose.
one of my struts actually snapped just under that bolt. (not telling WHY it snapped though. was due to improperly designed mods)....
but the thing snapped and let out a huge POP! when it did.. then the car was bouncy bouncy across the parking lot.. fortunately, I figured out what it was before I went more than a few feet, so I drove the car home (at 10mph) and changed the strut right then. thank goodness I had a spare!
had that happened at 120mph on the highway or while screaming through a turn in the mountains, I would have been vulture meat.
