Search for "gxe fstb" I posted a thread with good info on this a few months back. As for where to buy them use a search engine like Dogpile or Google.

What year is your car and what trim? The VE engines require a special fstb...namely, one off a 5th gen. I got mine from Courtesy for $80.

Don't you have a VG??? They said that thier bar won't fit an 89 because of some bracket or something, but I took one off of Justin's 91 SE he got from StealthMax and put it on and it was fine. What's up? I like Justin's piece and the $40 price is good. I'm not spending 200 on some bar with Stillen on it. (Been there...)
Does Greg's piece fit on the 89 or not????

It should! 89-91 cars can use almost anything because the A/C hose isn't in the way and they all have the VG. I think whoever said that got something mixed up or was thinking '99, which DOES have a bracket in the way.

Oh yeah, and to answer the original question, yes it is worth the cost, especially since you can get the cheap $30-40 ones. It adds some flair under the hood and improves steering/front end feel in spirited driving. The front end feels more solid and less squirmy. Just make sure you install it tight, but not so tight you have to force the end bolts in and it's pushing out on the towers. Just snug with no/little play.

well i have a 93 GXE. and i looked at that AC hose the other day and it doesn't look like it would be possible to fit any bar on there. will the custommaxima.com one fit on it?

Didn't I give you some advice already?

Do the same search I mentioned earlier in this thread and find the thread I made a few months ago and read it.

custommaxima.com has bars for the vg but not the ve, just go to the year of your car (if its an 89 go to 90 because the bar doesn't get listed for the 89, its the same engine so dont worry) it could be on backorder but he usually has them in stock

I have to disagree. $200 is not worth it. $40, yeah, if you're getting a solid piece. Hell, $80 if you're getting a solid piece. But my $200 Stillen felt no different than the one my buddy Justin got from Ken (StealthMax) for $45 shipped...

Who mentioned Stillen? Stillen is almost never worth it! (Unless you really care for the looks or name...)

BTW, you can wait for CustomMaxima, or try finding various rice/performance shops online. The main page has links to some shops. www.street-beat.com comes to mind. ($35 I think) If you find any cheap generic 4th Gen bar it will work too.

I had mentioned Stillen, and I don't want a cheaply made bar, at least not some hollow one that I can bend with my hands! I want a solid piece. Ken sent me a PM anyway, and he should have his in within a week and they have improved brackets.
And like I said, Greg contacted me and told me that he had tried to put his bar on several 89SEs and they didn't fit right. Ken's bar fits because I took Justin's off and we put it on mine for a day and it fit perfectly. The center bar is really great. The only complaint I had was the brackets and Ken said they were redisigned or something, but that they had been improved. I'm gonna get his. $45 shipped. Can't beat it...

The bracket's are different from the one I have? Because I would like thicker brackets too. Preferably like 3/16"-1/4" thick steel. Other than that the bar's great. Best $45 I've ever spent.

Nothing like a FSTB that fits correctly.
