HELP! Need to replace the power steering pressure hose!!!

OK, guys! Here's another question for you...

My power steering pressure hose is leaking all over my nice clean engine, and I'm going to have to replace it this weekend. I did a search for instructions on how to do this myself, but I couldn't find anything specifically instructing removal/replacing. I also tried to look it up in my Chilton's manual, but I couldn't find anything there either.

If anyone knows how to do this/has done this/has information on this, I'd truly appreciate it. I found the hose at AutoZone for $43, but I believe that it may take some $$$ to get it installed unless I do it myself, which I'd rather do anyway.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's not too hard. you'll need a quart or two of power steering fluid (Nissan says ATF works great too. that's what I use cause it's cheaper for me.)

look under the car and you'll see the bottom end of the hose inside the right wheel well area. break that bolt loose and stick a bucket under it to catch the fluid. it'll take a while for it to all drain out, and generally be a nasty mess. might want to put a sheet of plastic or something down on the concrete to keep from it getting ugly.

once that's done, loosen the bolt at the top (it's attached to a bracket on the back of the right side strut tower.). I had to use an impact wrench to pop it loose without tearing the rbacket in half.

that's about it. pull it out from the top or bottom, then feed the new hose through the maze of tubing back there and bolt it down.

hope you use new copper washers too. if you don't have them, buy some from your dealer before you start the job. they may have to order them.. 99% of parts stores won't have them (it took me 6 stores just to find the hose, let alone the washers! dealer is your friend on weird parts like this).

then just put it all back together and fill the reservoir with fluid.. start the car and make sure the level is right. you may have to add some, as that hose may be full of air until you start the car.

now turn the wheel from full left to right several times to make sure the air in the system is gone. the pump will whine or growl if there's air in the system, and should be quiet when it's gone.
if it still makes noise, then you either still have air in the system, or your pump is going to go soon. mine's been making that noise for 8 months now though.

have fun. wear grubby clothes!

Where does Nissan say to use ATF? Heard this B4, but no confirmation.
