i get in my car this morning and when i got to my destination. i turned of the car and opened the door. GUESS WHAT! the fu@#king seat belt wont work. my maxima decided last night that from now on i have to keep the car on in order for the seat belts to move forward, aint that a *****?

not only that but i'm sitting in my car with some friends listening to some music at burger king and what happens. SMOkE the fu@#king car starts smoking. so i pop the hood and the fu@#king anti-freeze is leaking everywhere.

and to top it all of my damn reverse lights don't work. all fuses where checked, both bulbs checked, but they just won't work.

i think i bought the most fu@#ked up maxima in the world. or and did i mention my axle is bad too. besides the axle and anti-freeze, has anyone every had problems with there seat belt and reverse lights?

First off....calm down.

From you username it sounds like you have a 1990. First you must realize that you have a 10 year old car.....probably 100+K miles on it. These things happen. As a rule of thumb, maximas are very very reliable, BUT NO CAR IS INVINCABLE to wear and part failure.

i have the exact same seatbelt problem. it just started a couple of days ago. i found the busted fuse, its the fourth one from the bottom on the left side. it was a 10, and i replaced it with a 10, but it blew as soon as i put it in. anyone know whats up? should i just try a bigger fuse? or maybe it isnt the fuse at all?

and i'm calm now i had just came in the door so i was mad.
mostly because i had plans to hook up with a lady friend if you know what i mean but i couldn't do it because i can't drive with out anti-freeze. she lives like 15 miles away.

As far as I know we have a lifetime warranty on our seatbelts from Nissan but Im not sure what is covered & what isn't. You might want to see if that is covered.

my car is startin to **** me off too... first of all it rattles like ****, i already got a new 1/2 axle on the left, my sunroof shade is broke, gots to get it replaced (rattles so bad, everytime i hit a bump) umm what else, when i accelerate wit my radio on i get a high pitch noice wit my engine (sounds like i have a supercharger), umm... if i hit a bump with my right fron tire and im goin around a corner or goin fast i hear a huge bang like my strut doesnt have any life left but i know it does cause other than that its fine and they are fairly new (tokico) also does anyone have an idea on what that huge bang i hear in my front right would be? happen to anyone else, aight im done complainin, hahaha all lil stuff that pisses me off. oh well, thanks for listenin......

hey James92SE do you still have the factory powered antenna?

because i changed mine to a black sporty antenna. i remember the night before the seat bealt thing happened i was ****ing around in the trunk and i found the wire harness. for some reason some wires were cut. i figured since i had an after market headunit the wires would be dead, but when i when to stick it back were i found it one of the wires touched the jack and it sparked. been the bumb *** that i am i just stood there and keeped playing with it, trying to see how many thing i can make spark.

so to make a long story short, check your antenna connection. because if the same fuse is blown in my fuse box it most like happened when i was acting a fool.

i'm pretty sure you hear that noise when you accelarate because you ran the power cable and preouts for you amp together. i know because i get the same noise. i was to lazy to do it the correct way, and besides the bass covers most of the noise.

i have to replace the same axle to. aint that some Sh#t.

hey you wouldnt think it could be my right axle do you, F*** i wish i new what it was, cause ive had 2 mechanics look at it and they have no idea, they say everythin looks good. Please if anyone knows anythin about it please get back to me.... Thanks.

It's not your axle. I get the bang when i make a hard turn fast aswell. And i have brand new axles on both sides, and it comes from my passanger side strut. It's most likely a mount or the spring. I still have my stock struts, so if it is the struts, since you have fairly new Tokico's they might have gone bad, which i doubt, so i'd say it is a strut mount, or something in your rack and pinion steering. But good luck trying to find that.

so if i put in a bigger fuse it will mess up? well then what am i to do, the smaller one just blows also. i was just thinking of puting in a 15. i know a way bigger fuse will melt the wiring wont it, but a 15 will do that too? so then i have to have a 10. i wonder why it blows when i put a 10 in. none of the other fuses are blown.

and btw, i still have the factory antenna, so i dont think that could be it. anybody know any other suggestions?

i just checked it and the same fuse you said blew in your car is blown in mine. and the night before i was making sparks with the antenna. just check it to make sureeverything is good in there, it wont hert

Man I was supposed to sell my Max a long time ago...but I love that damn thing. I replaced both axles, both control arms, entire exhaust, tires twice, now I need rotors and brakes and struts. Then what ever else decide to break. I am going to keep it thru the winter then probaly buy a 97 in spring

The noise you hear when you accelerate is probally from the amps....If you have a Bose system, the speakers have separate amps on them...if you put an aftermarket deck it it, then you will have that noise. The amps need to be bypassed and the noise will go away. My head unit has a high output so i didnt even need the amps. It sounds a lot better when the amps are gone! If you go somewhere they will probaly charge you like 60 $.....I got mine dine at Circuit City. They charged me the same to disconnect the amp as they would to install one....Good Luck

its most likely just alternator whine. just buy a noise filter.

most likly it's because the power cable for the amp and the preouts coming from the deck is to close together. that should be the first thing you check. if you can't seperate the two wires then you buy a noise filter.

one other thought.

I'M NOT TRYING TO SOUND LIKE A JERK.....BUT........you said your cooling system died. Do you wonder why? on a 10 year old car? and from your pics......YOU "DRIVE LIKE YOU STOLE IT"? It sounds like your car is working way too hard and running hot. Check those hoses...could be cracked, or the radiator is gone.

That whining noise? I kinda like it. It sounds like turbo whine (with no lag). When people riding with me hear it, they think it's cool! So I really don't care about it and usually my muffler it louder than it, so it's a very small problem as far as I'm concerned.

Yours isnt the most f-ed up I PROMISE...you sounded exactly like me on the Maxima Mailing list...You wouldnt belive all the probs Ive had with my 90 SE. I feel yr pain.

Since I bought the car, I lost my timing belt,luckily I didnt lose my engine with it, but I did have to have one of those tests done, on my valves and what have you..I guess I have like 2 valves that are only running at 50%..my mechanic figured the car came to me that way tho. After that, my radiator blew up... then my power steering hose blew up..then best of all I lost my tranny!
I lost 3 & 4th gear and needed a new tourque converter also..my tranny was as bad as it gets, had it rebuilt, that cost $2581....Everybody was like get rid of it, its a piece of ****..but Im hooked and I kept it, Im doing whatever it takes to keep her alive, its a sick obsession really.
all the trauma shes caused me..but it was my dream car, and I wont settle for anything else, cept maybe a 4th gen..but until then its my BUCKET! (thats what everyone calls her) I say pretty on the outside, ugly on the inside!

I had that whine from my old maxa speakers to. I just ignored and my friends just thouhgt of it as a s/c

the noise is from the amps and the only way to rid it is tossing the amps or replacing them(dont replace them $$$) i had to get new speakers and a new headunit (wanted to anyways) a noise filter doesnt do anything to the noise. you cant just bypass the amps because the bose speakers are 1ohm so you have to get new speakers too. and the bang could be your CVJ
