temp guage replacement

I've been having problems with my temp guage for awhile. Is it that hard to replace the temp guage in the instrument cluster panel? Once you have the dash taken apart is just matter of unscrewing the back of the panel and undoing some connections and hooking up the new one; or is much more complicated? I have the entire dash taken apart, I'm just hesitiant to mess with the instrument panel too much. I also don't know if it is the guage itself or a short. Have replaced all other connections. Please help, I not putting the dash back together until this thing is fixed because if I given in and take it to the dealer they charge $130 just to take the dash apart.
Please help

Re: Re: temp guage replacement

I had the problem diagnosed and they said that the temp guage has gone bad. I am asking is it hard to replace the temp guage in the instrument cluster once the entire faceplate removed? Is it just a matter or unhooking some connections or is much more invloved? Also does anyone know if the temp guague and fuel guage are one unit? I thought that if one goes out they both go out. This is for a 89 GXE. Thanks.
