I'm trying to decide what springs to get. anyone have any suggestions? i found some used intraxes that i can get pretty cheap.

 

Very mixed opinions on INTRAX. first off used springs does not s0ound good to me. Considering INTRAX cost about $180 new any way.
Now, some say intrax is soft and sags in the rear. Others swear by the better lowered stance intrax has over Eibach. Personally I chose EIBACH due to the popularity. everyone and their momma has the Tokico/Eibach combo.
I had a set of INTRAX on a BMW. very smooth I thought. Very controlled. my next Tokico swap will include Intrax on the MAX. When that is depends on my 3 year old Tokicos.

 

i have intrax and i love them. i dont know why everyone seems to be against intrax. eibach seems to be really good, but dont get them just because they are popular. they just dont lower enough for me, so i went for the intrax. mine arent soft or saggy, they are nice and firm and handle well. it makes the car sit nice and low. the back doesnt sag more than the front, its actually a little higher. i'd say go for it, unless the springs have tons of miles on them. springs usually stay good for the life of the car so i dont see a problem with getting the used springs. how much are you getting them for?

 

probably around 40 bucks. the guy says they have 4000-6000 miles on them. i dont know I can get eibach springs from work for wholesale so i might do that instead. you said you put your springs in yourself right?

 

40 bucks is a good deal. the springs should definitly be in good shape with only that many miles on it. if they are in bad condition, which i highly doubt, its only 40 bucks anyway. and i did put the springs in myself, easy, just need a spring compressor, basic tools, and maybe a friend to give ya a hand. how much can you get the eibachs for?

 

i dont know how much i can get the eibachs for yet. but i could get them with toks.

 

**** nevermind, the price just went up from 25.00 to 102.50 in like 12 minutes and it stayed at 25 for two days. (they were on ebay)

Has anyone tried the sprint springs i heard that they give the max a 1.80inc drop and thats a little lower than the intrax, but does anyone know about the quality of the springs.

 

im pretty sure sprint doesnt make the springs for the max anymore. they stopped making them a while ago. but sprint is a very good maker. my brother has sprint on his civic and they are very nice. i'd be surprised if they still made them.

 

102 was the intrax. what do eibachs retail for ?

 

i'd get intrax if i were you. if you want to lower your car, then do it. i have eibachs and they aren't really noticable. i wish i would have gotten intrax instead. if you're going to spend money to lower your car, my not do it all the way instead of just half way? of course they will be a little bouncier, but just lowering you car more with any brand of spring will do that. the bounciness will be barely noticable.

 

How about if I'm looking to get more of a sport suspension than lower my car. Do eibachs lower it at all, and what is the effect on handling?

 

yeah eibachs lower just a little bit, and are supposedly best for handling.

 

eibach's barely do anything for lowering. i wish it would've dropped more since i payed $115 for them and $120 to install them. i don't think i got my money's worth. and i can't really tell the difference in handling. just lowering a car period will improve the handling, it doesn't matter what kind of springs you get. i'd do anything to have intrax instead of eibach.

 

so the eibachs dont really handle better? everyone acts like those are absolute musts for handling.

 

how much are the intrax's how much do they lower it? i had my mind set on eibachs, but now im thinking intrax

 

the intrax are $200. they lower it 1.75", its the lowest drop you can get on the max. i'm so glad i got the intrax over the other stuff.

 

dammit james, everytime i see you car, i wanna cry. i wish i would've bought intrax! aaaaaahhhhhhh! yeah, you get better handling going to eibachs from stock, but just lowering your car period will give better handling. different brands of springs don't differ in handling much.

 

Ya i must agree that the intrax look sweet on your car james but living in N.Y.C that wouldn't be such a good idea for me.I'm planing on putting 18's on my max and the intrax would really make them look sweet,but i guess i have to go with the suspension tec's instead well i hope they make my car look low enough on the 18inc wheels.

 

Arospeed springs, same drop as Intrax, 1.75.
Someone buy these so i can ask questions about them.
