Niether. All that matters is how much you can spend. Given the choice I'd rather turbo the maxima engine. AFter you blow it up then buy a VG30ET. Or just walk into a shop drop down a money order(s) or credit card for $4k and say "I want a turbo on my maxima". I can garantee that you will get a turbo .

sooner or later, you'll blow it up. everyone that's turbo'd one so far (except maybe one person) has blown the engine within a year.

actually if you want to clean a keyboard, use the dishwasher. i spilled OJ on mine several times, and throw it in with the china, it comes out working everytime. i also used to do this when i fixed computers- just take it out before it gets to the dry cycle. plastic can handle the hot water and soap, but the hot air may melt the corners a bit if you leave it in for the dry cycle.

There is one thing that will keep you from blowing the motor. That is to never, ever-ever buy a boost controller. No matter what anyone says don't buy one, if you can't raise the boost you can't overboost. Just run the preset 7psi and the car will be fine, assuming you have enough fuel to supply the engine. For some strange reason people tend to get greedy and up the boost when the motor can't keep up with. So what you have is a car that is fast for like 1-2 passes then you have a whole bunch of broken motor parts. Try reading the turbo FAQ on www.z31.com.

Sure you can. Problems with wastegates can and do happen. Wastegate staying shut = overboost = boom!

it's usually the wastegates that are controlled by a boost controller that stay shut though. vacuum hoses pop off, lines get melted, poor install, simply malfunction, turn the **** the wrong way etc etc.

But if you have a functional POV it would vent the pressure inside the manifold if it goes higher than its preset.

Without sufficient amount of fuel delivery can also cause damage. Ask me how I know.. I've blown two Nissan motors in under a year.

Why are people so greedy that they dont want to share their information. Im not saying anything about you(matt) or skymax. I was just posting that since you said about copying. Why does every body get mad when some one uses your idea. Why not share? Aren't we trying to help each other?

within two weeks of me posting my stereo pics and amp rack, I saw 3 other maximas witht he same thing on this board. I spent months thinking about the design and other things so I could be DIFFERENT, then people turn around and copy it bit for bit. that's why is annoys me.. it's one thing to have the same suspension or bodykit or wheels, but when you get to something that's 100% custom like a turbo kit, I'm not going to just rattle off my parts list so someone else can go pick up everything I spent months working on and bolt it in and go. it's unfair to me, personally, and I refuse to let that happen again like it did with my system.

there's a big difference between helping people with advice on how to go about not blowing their car up, and handing them a parts list and how-to instructions to do the complete job. 90% of the people on this board could care less about everyone else's hard work. all they want are the answers, and they get mad if you don't hand them to them the second they want them.
I've spent hours upon hours typing out how-tos for people on this board for them to turn around and say "oh.. that takes too much time and money. I'm not going to do that."
So why should WE spend our time making up pretty webpages and instructions for a bunch of thankless little pansies?

(yes, there are good people out there who appreciate help and reciprocate, that's not the norm around here.)

all I have to say is this....

why do people get mad cause someone won't tell them how to do this??

are they obligated in some way to HAVE to tell...I don't think so. so since people are so tight lipped, there is only one other alternative...find out for yourself (phrase of the year! ). It might sound a little harsh, but on something as "difficult" and "custom" as this project, I don't think those who have spent mad hours researching wanna give up all their info to someone who hasn't researched for squat. I garuntee, if someone comes on here already semi-knowledgable about the subject and needs some feedback they won't get "do a search" as a response, they'll get a valid answer, but come on here asking simply "how do I turbo...." and you'll get the usual response.

He's not teasing you, he's keeping himself from getting 10000 emails every week asking the same info. If you don't tell anybody, nobody will know to ask.

Matt..you blew his cover..now i'll have to mail him and find out whats under that hood. If he doesn' respond, that only means the e-mail most have gotten lost, so i'll PM him at the same time and write him again, if that doesn't work after the 5th time, something is probably still wrong, so ill have to post threads in every forums entitled "ATTN: SKYMAX, PLEASE READ, URGENT!!" Hopefully that will get his attention and I can soon have a TT beast under my hood too.
