tranny issues.

well, I realize that it's about time for a rebuild or a new tranny altogether. but... I don't have a job right now.

so... my dilemna. everytime I accelerate, it seems that my tranny decides to drop two gears and then the P on the tranny switch thing flashes a bunch of times. then the tranny slips back into the correct gear and I am off, but it is happenning alot more regularly now a days...

I have 160k on original tranny no rebuild.

Thing has been babied it's whole life.

Just now it is starting to shift hard into 2nd. Had it cleaned out at Woodfield Nissan and now it only does that when it is cold.

Re: tranny issues.

hmmmm, I'll take a stab at it.....the light flash usually indicates an electrical prob, thus maybe you're not in as much trouble as possible.

the diagnostic from the Haynes says:
let car warm up, turn car off, turn key back to ACC, watch "P" light and count blinks:

Flash: Symptom:
First Revolution sensor circuit bad.
Second Speed sensor circuit bad.
Third Throttle sensor circuit bad.
Fourth Shift solenoid A circuit bad.
Fifth Shift solenoid B circuit bad.
Sixth Timing solenoid circuit bad.
Seventh Lock up solenoid circuit bad.
Eighth Fluid temperature sensor disconnected.
Ninth Engine revolution sensor circuit bad.
Tenth Line pressure solenoid circuit bad.

I had to rebuild my tranny at 125K - largely due to neglect....
never changed the tranny fluid since I bought the car @ 50k !

plan on doing a drain and refill with REDLINE racing ATF today..
