Tranny=Bye Bye

This is to all you 3rd gen drivers who have over 100k miles on a stock tranny(auto), be very carefull, i threw my tranny not 100 miles after hitting 152k, and it's anice little 1200 repair so...be forewarned. but part of the price is do to the dumb *** tow truck driver who tried to winch it onto the bed with the front wheels locked up....shattering the mounts and causing a gear to fall out of it....i believe it was a gear that helps transfer the torque to the wheels, so be warned.... it sucks ***. Mostly due to the fact that i am now driving our 95 dodge caravan 5spd until my car is done.

I am not looking forward

for that to happen to me... hmm 164320+ mile on the tranny...
I have to stop doing burnouts and shifting at high revs on my auto..... Scary to think that my maxima could be so fragile...

for just 39 cents a month, you, yes you, can help save a dying maxima from the ever-so-common failing tranny. and you'll revieve a new picture of your adopted maxima every month. unless it has turbo, those max's don't show up in pics, like vampires i say.

i got 173,600 here, still on the original tranny. i know the day will come when my tranny will buy the farm. im starting the "matt eventually needs a tranny rebuild trust fund." i might have a different car by then though. (either a mk4 vw gti vr6 or a 4th gen max se)so the trust fund will go to the new car. man, ive got to stop talking.

Whats is the cost of an average rebuild.. There was a post somewhere here that someone actually got a brand new tranny from the nissan dealer... But depending on the type of service what am i expecting to pay for a rebuild... what about other alternatives... rebuilt or the other option that i cannot think of right now...

btw your last remark.. rotflamo..... 39 cents a day... might as well get the pic b/c those turbo are far from being found...

Ive got 164,000 on mine and the only problem I have is when I slam on the brakes it gets stuck in drive. All I do is turn the car off and back on real quick, the engine doesnt even die. I guess it resets the electronic shift mech.

I remember a couple of instances that i was very upset at my friend that i slammed my brakes and locked them up... When i went to accelerate my enging just kept revving but not moving... It did that for like 2 miles... I turned off the car.. I am cursing at my friend b/c i am like wtf look what you made me do.. Now i have to shell out $$ b/c you got use lost... I went to the store and got the things that i needed.. went back to my maxima and told my friend i was sorry for yelling at him... But i was still ****ed about the tranny.. When i turn the key on The tranny and engine went back to normal...

So what i am saying its problaby the tranny's computer that needed to be reset.... This onl happen 2-3 times.. and all because i stopped hard... Its pretty scary thing when your tranny seems to slip.. thats the kind of feeling that i got.. but thank gosh it was only the computer....

Re: Yes it has happen to me

yup yup when it happens it`s REAL hard to start out. if you try shifting it manualy it will only go into 2nd or 3rd. for me it was
D in D D in 2nd and 2nd in 1st or low. no 1st gear at all.
the first time it happened i freaked out bigtime. but now i`ll just kill it and turn it back on and bam
